Just my thoughts:

2020 has been one heck of a year. But it also has been a year where people’s true colors have come out. I have never known such hatred and negativity. I have never known so many people stand up and say that they don’t like this group of people. I have never known people to do things to intimated you, just because they can. What is happening to this world? I feel like things are falling apart, to be honest. Where did all this hate come from? Where did all this injustice come from? It hurts to know that we are all in this together but we are so divided. Hate is a powerful thing but so is love. We have got to do so much better. We can’t have white against black. Police against black. We need to come together and do better. I remember this song that we use to sing at church ” This world is not my home, I’m just a passing through. I wish we could get rid of the hate. Just my thoughts.

  1. It’s a difficult time for all – I think being locked up is starting to spill over into anger and hatred. When our leaders – who are suppose to protect us – fail to do so – and in ways we feel they never should have… I take solace in the words that Obama said when he left office – that progress is never a straight line – but the over all trend is positive – the world is a far better place than it was 100 years ago – far safer and more equitable. We will always have these wobbles in history as the old try hard to resist changes that are both necessary and inevitable. Of course we can’t be complacent and we need to keep fighting for the right things. Whether we like it or not hate exists for a reason – but a bit like high can’t exist without low – hate cannot exist with out love. Now is the time for the voices of love and compassion to rise to the table and tame the cauldron that is 2020. Balance needs to be restored and I believe it will be. As a parent I have to. Wishing you the very best, AP2 🙏

  2. Yes. And yes, what really made this year truly horrible is the racism. We were already a nation in mourning over the deaths of a mass amount of people due to the virus. The deaths of men and women of color pushed us into a darkness that is painful.

  3. Sadly, this hate has always been here. Now there’s just a platform for all of us to see it on full display with social media. I think it’s just a sign of the times. 2 Timothy 3:1-5 says, “But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, betrayers, headstrong, puffed up with pride, lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, having an appearance of godliness but proving false to its power; and from these turn away.”
The attitudes described in this scripture is what we see everyday and I don’t think it will change by human means. My mother would always say “things will change when God makes it right”. That’s what I keep hoping and praying for (Psalms 37:10,11).

  4. I honestly think the hate has always been there – (look at history), but 2020 put a glaring spotlight on some of it, and got the worlds attention on perhaps a more intense scale than we’ve seen for a long time…darkness coming to light so to speak…but there is still a lot of love in the world too, thank God. 💛✨
